Dr. Lalit K. Jain, Pediatrician, Oak Orchard Health in Albion

Dr. Jain has been a board-certified pediatrician for over 35 years, the last four of which were as Chief of Pediatrics at United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC)/Rochester Regional. Before that, he was the CEO and Lead Physician at Batavia Pediatrics.

Though his father was an important influence on his decision to become a physician, it was his love of children that motivated him to pursue pediatrics. He graduated from the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, NY, and did his residency at Mercy Hospital.

His approach to patient care is to listen to his patients or their parents to get to the heart of the issue. It’s important to him to connect with his patients of any age. He speaks English, Hindi, and Punjabi. “Though children get sick quickly, they also get better quickly,” said Dr. Jain.

Dr. Jain is also passionate about preventing childhood obesity. He spearheaded the “Get Fit” program by collaborating with UMMC, the City of Batavia, Genessee County, the Batavia School District, and the YMCA. The goal of the program was to create community environments that promoted and supported healthy food and beverage choices and physical activity.

After COVID, there was a dramatic increase in mental health conditions in children, such as depression and anxiety. Oak Orchard Health has a robust behavioral health department and recently expanded its program for children. These were a few reasons why Dr. Jain joined Oak Orchard at the Albion location.

When he’s not working, he enjoys playing pickleball, reading, swimming, and spending time with his family.
